Marie is a Brettonian druid. She is 40 years old, and is known for the
bright orange colour of her hair. She is one of nine children, though both
parents died when she was young, and she remembers nothing of them. Her
beliefs in the old faith are strong, but she does not wish to become a
druidic priest, partly because she feels that they are not proactive
enough in safeguarding the natural world.
Instead, she wants
eventually to earn a living
as a targeteer, but has decided that she will seek a more exciting life
adventuring for the time being (and hopefully perfect her aim at the same
time!). She also feels the need to try and protect the natural world
from the forces of evil, and regards politics as a waste of time.
She
thinks that Kormak is a good fighter, but not much use for anything else,
and looks forward to the time when Elric can cast some decent
spells!
Fabrice is a human watchman from Bretonnia. He is 20 years old, and has
one younger sister. His mother works as a blacksmith's assistant, and his
father is a watchman. He has a slight religious bent, but does not worship
any one god to the exclusion of the others. He was transported to Forlorn
completely by accident (see
the journal
), and
is currently only interested in getting home again.
He was very happy as a watchman, and his ambition in life was to become
head of the local watch, and to safeguard all the citizens in his area.
The watch is somewhat of a family tradition, and he hopes to eventually
father more successful watchmen. As such, he is somewhat of a conservative
in all areas of politics, and believes strongly in an ordered society. He
is exceptionally perceptive, and has a searching mind, although it tends
to be blinded by his respect for authority. He will never harm an innocent
citizen.
He is remakably agile given his sturdy frame,
but is not very tall (5'5"). He admires Kormak, and Marie (due to her
plate armour), but distrusted Elric because he was a wizard.
Lothar is a 20 year old mage. The only child of one of Talabheim's
richest merchants, his bizarre looks marked out his magical potential
from birth. As soon as his parents realised he would never be persuaded
to join the family firm, they ensured he got the best possible
apprenticeship as a wizard. Now Lothar has left his home city for the
first time, loaded with magical items. He plans to see the world,
slay monsters and rescue damsels. Good fun.
Unfortunately, he is somewhat naive and overconfident. He thinks his
companions are good to have around, if a bit grim. He thinks that they are
rather impressive, given that they can't actually do
anything!
Elric was a 34 year-old wizard from Middenheim. His father was a clerk, and
his mother was a housewife. He had two younger sisters, Katya and Tanya,
although he didn't hear from them very often. He was a worshipper of Morr,
but he wasn't very religious. He had an eidetic memory, but was more
interested
in his magical learning than in the real world at times!
His sole aim
in life was to refine his theory of magic, learn lots of spells, and earn
enough money for a comfortable retirement. He believed that academics
deserve the respect and support of the community, and he could be somewhat
irritating to those less well educated than himself.
He thought the rest
of the party were staggeringly brave, but not very clever, and he couldn't
understand their motivations. Kormak's desire for fame in particular was
completely alien
to him.
Elric died after falling 40ft from the top of a
ladder.
A 41 year-old dwarf, Kormak was born in the city of Kislev,
the only
son
of a loremaster. His mother died in childbirth, and he knew little of
her. Like most Dwarfs, he worshipped Grungi, but was not very religious,
although he had a strong belief in the afterlife. His last job was as a
tunnel fighter, and his main ambition in life was to become a warrior of
fame and legend!
His outlook on life was somewhat simplistic: evil
things need slaying, and everyone else should work together to
achieve this aim. He had a particular hatred of chaotic things, probably
due to his upbringing in the chaos-torn city of Kislev. He was a somewhat
impulsive character, with little or no instinct for self-preservation, and
seemed unable to cope with illusions. He thinks the rest of the group were
"handy to have around, even though they can't fight properly".
His
father gave him an intimate knowledge of Dwarf lore, and he was
investigating a legendary tomb near Nuln when he met the rest of the
party.
Kormak died from having his strength sapped by some ethereal
undead
